Henry VIII’s Kitchens
Henry VIII’s kitchens were the largest in Tudor England, with about 200 workers that cooked over 800 meals for the court.
The kitchens have a Baroque style and a very large oven.
Even today the kitchens are open so you can try the traditional foods.
The restauranti s also sustainable: the walls are from bonified timber, the menus are printed in recycled paper and the light are energy savind LEDs.
In 1760 George III moved from the court to London, and Hampton Court ceased to be a royal residence, but, in the 20th sentury, it was reused by nobles and distinguished people who once served the court.
Every anniversary of the castle’s birth is celebrated with a small cake, and every century is celebrated wirh a large cake.
