Hampton Court

History

Cardinal Wosley began building Hampton Court in 1532 and soon attracted Henry VIII.

On special occasions, it was used for plays, danes and Masques and James I spent the Christmas of 1603-1604 at the Palace with William Shakespeare, who was performing “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Description

The Great Hall siti at the heart of the Tudor Palace.

There are panels that illustrate “the passion of our Lord”, commisioned by Henry VIII.

The linefold panneling of the room has been restored to it’s former glory.

The Great Hall has a very decorated ceiling (with Tudor roses and the prince of Wales feathers), and below the freize is Wosley’s Motto: “Dominus Michi Adjutor” ( the lord my helper.

Events

In the Great Hall there are lots of spectacular events.

It’s England’s last and greatest hall, used by meny royal families and now you can hire this amazing place for dinners, banquets and extra-special receptions, available from 18:30 onwards and can host 270 guests.
