The Magic Garden
The Magic Garden is an interactive play garden, of 750 acres, closed in Winter, for families in Hampton Court Palace. The garden was inspired by the myths and legends of the king’s lifetime 500 years ago. Built on the site of Henry VIII’s former tiltyard, the garden includes a range of exciting elements for children and families.
Entry to the Magic Garden is included in the admission ticket for Hampton Court Palace.
The Garden has a big Plantation, including many Acre trees.
In the garden live many magical creatures: dragons, unicorns and the lion, symbolic for the period. Lions feature on the coat of arms for all the Tudor Royalty, and have a long been a symbol of England. Henry VIII was a big fan of animals.
The Magic Garden is equipped with many playground toys, an enormous play area with slides, sand boxes and a Dragon with light-up eyes and smoking nostrils!
There’s a lot of water-play and climbing too. Parents and grandparents need to know that there is a café’ and terrace.
There is a good sense of flow by the design by Robert Myers.
During busy periods, the time in the Magic Garden may be limited to a maximum of 90 minutes. Coloured wristbands are distributed and staff will be on-hand to advise visitors.
The 6th and the 22nd of April will be the Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt.
